The first time we stepped the masts was a big event. Many locals from the village of Sillerslev were present; we even made it into the local news!

Two coins set in the base for good luck.

The masts, freshly painted and outfitted with shrouds and hardware, were waiting in a nearby shed. We hired a mobile crane to do the heavy lifting.

Wheeling the first mast out to the crane.

And up she goes!

Setting the mast (with the aid of a very smooth crane operator)

Attaching shrouds and turnbuckles.

Henry’s perfect system of wedges.

The view from inside.

Second mast going up.

W will need to go up and attached two stays.

Fortunately, we had a luxurious solution with the crane (instead of human) hoisting W in the boatswain’s chair.

TA-DA!!!!!
